Ryan Williams, Age 33 and Craig Birkholz, Age 28

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Fond du Lac officer shot and wounded by a gunman who killed another officer remained hospitalized in critical condition Monday.

Thirty-three-year-old Ryan Williams is in the intensive care unit at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah where he underwent surgery. Trauma medical director, Dr. Raymond Georgen, tells the Fond du Lac Reporter that Williams was shot once in the left shoulder and once in the right chest, just below the collarbone.

Police Chief Tony Barthuly says both Williams and the slain officer, 28-year-old Craig Birkholz, were wearing bullet-proof vests. Birkholz was struck in the upper chest in an area not covered by the vest.

Police say the gunman, James Cruckson, turned the gun on himself Sunday morning during a standoff with police.

Lord, we pray for all policeman and military personnel who defend our country and communities each day. May the Gifts of your Holy Spirit guide them and keep them safe. May your Divine Wisdom and grace inspire all world leaders to promote and seek peace and unity during these difficult times at home and abroad.

Tino, Age 9, Ethiopia

Ethiopia - Every day around the world 25,000 girls are forced to marry threatening their lives, health and futures. This is what happened to Tino at age 9. One day she was playing outside in her small village in Ethiopia, as a happy and carefree child. The next day she was told to stay inside and get ready for her wedding.

Child brides are less likely to complete their schooling, are twice as likely to be beaten or threatened, and face the risk of death during pregnancy and delivery.

Please pray for Tino and the additional 100 million girls in developing countries who will be child brides within the next decade.

Lord, we pray for all your children victimized by lust, greed or poverty. We pray for all those who are hungry, abused and forgotten. Lord, bless all hearts with your merciful love that they may share your mercy with those in need. Let your prayers make a difference. Give the gift of Faith, Hope and Love this Lenten Season.

Let us pray in solidarity with all children who are exploited, violated and live without freedom and basic human rights. They are all our children. They are the future of our world. Let us guard the most precious God given resource we have. Let us rescue and nurture the little ones of God.

Earthquake Victims in Japan

Sendai, Japan - On a global level we ask your prayers for all those involved in the tsunami and 8.9 earthquake in Japan. As news unfolds the death toll continues to rise and the number missing is to numerous to count. May the Holy Spirit guide rescue efforts as the people of Japan recover.

On a national level we are remembering a PA couple who lost their six children in a fire on Thursday. Their three year old daughter escaped to alert her parents.

May God's merciful love console the survivors of all natural and national disasters past and present.

David Garcia, Age 41, San Jose, CA

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A cyclist remains in critical condition Tuesday after being struck by a minivan in a hit-and-run collision in San Jose on Sunday morning, a police spokesman said. The cyclist, 41-year-old David Garcia, was hit at about 10:10 a.m. on Crucero Drive and Dubert Lane, Sgt. Jason Dwyer said.

Dwyer said that when officers arrived, they found Garcia down in the street next to his bicycle. He was taken to San Jose Regional Medical Center, where he is being treated for a head trauma. He remains in critical condition in the hospital's intensive care unit, but he is expected to survive.

Lord, we pray for all those whose fate is unknown this day. We pray for David's full recovery and the driver of the car that struck him. In these times of unrest and political upheaval especially in Libya, we pray for all those that are fleeing for their lives and the conversion of those, who threaten the freedom and the right of every human being to have life and have it to the full. We pray for Divine protection, intervention and deliverance. May God's perfect Will guide and direct all those involved that they may live according to God's plan at home and during this time of political change. Holy Spirit whisper to all souls that peace and freedom may prevail.
