Karinna, Age 8, Battle Creek, Michigan

Battle, Creek, Michigan - An 8-year-old girl rescued from a burning home in Battle Creek early yesterday remains in extremely grave condition, and now investigators believe the fire was intentionally set.

A passerby, Steve Lafrinere noticed flames coming from the home on Young Street near Van Buren at about 2am yesterday. He called 911 and then alerted 12-year old Heaven and 15 year old Devin Johnson who managed to escape out a second story window. But they were unable to reach the young girl, Karinna, who was in another second story bedroom.

The first fire crews on the scene were able to mount a rescue and pull her out but she had stopped breathing. She was resuscitated and sent to the Bronson Hospital Burn Unit in Kalamazoo where she is listed in critical condition, suffering from smoke inhalation.

"Lord, we implore your mercy and ask for your healing hand to be upon Karinna and her family.
God our Father, in your loving providence you send your holy angels to watch over us. Hear our prayers for Karinna, defend us always by their protection and let us share your life with them forever." - from "Liturgy of the Hours", Feast of the Guardian Angels

"Watch thou, dear Lord, with those who wake or watch or weep tonight, and give thine angels charge over those who sleep. Tend thy sick ones, Lord Christ. Rest thy weary ones. Bless thy dying ones. Soothe they suffering ones. Pity thine afflicted ones. Shield thy joyous ones. And all, for thy love's sake. Amen" - Evening prayer by Saint Augustine

Peace in the Middle East

Thanksgivng 2012 - As we enter this season of gratitude let us remember all the people in war-torn countries, especially the Middle East. Let us pray for a just and permanent peace as we thank God for our many blessings.

Saint Paul in his letters reminded the people he served to be thankful for gratitude acknowledges and expresses our dependence on God. Gratitude is love expressed in a humble way. Following are a few quotes from Saint Paul on being grateful:

Colossians 3:15 "And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful."

1 Timothy 4:4-5 "For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude; for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer."

1 Thessalonians 5:18 "In everything give thanks; for this is Gods will for you in Christ Jesus."

Have a blessed and holy Thanksgiving as you gather with your loved ones to give thanks. - from the ipraytoday.com prayer team

All War-torn Countries

ATMEH, Syria - Let us pray for the people of all war torn countries such as Syria. The civil war raging within their borders have devastated their homes, cities and culture. Women and children are dying in the cross fire of the political unrest all around them. Such places such as Atmeh and Aleppo have been ravaged by the fighting. Farmers in Atmeh have very limited access to the markets where they once sold their crops. Life as they know it has changed forever and death hovers over each family as an unwanted guest.

Here in the United States we are experiencing a different kind of war, which attacks the very moral fiber of our country. Let us pray for all those who voted for same sex marriage, public funding of abortion through Obamacare, the HSS manadate that threatens our freedom of conscience and religion. Let us pray for the conversion of all politicans who used character assasination as an approved form of campaigning. Lord, forgive them for their lack of faithfulness to our Constitution and the Christian tenets upon which our Country was founded. Inspire them with your light and truth to a moral conversion which respects life and our God given rights as citizens of the United States.

Lord, help us to be a people of your truth united in God with Liberty and Justice for all. Without truth, honesty, integrity and moral accountability there can be no peace. Our way of life is threatened by political lies and economic ruin. Help us to live a life worthy of your continued blessings for without God our very souls are ravaged and our spirits slain by greed, power and lust.

Lord, turn the tide of our society so that your will is the center of our lives. Make love of God and neighbor the heart of our existence and bless our work and economy as it strives to serve you. In Jesus name we pray: "Thy will be done!" Amen

All Our Elected Officials 2012

Washington, D.C. - Please join us as we pray for all our Elected Officials and for unity and peace for our Nation:

"Lord God, Author of Life and Source of Eternal Life, move the hearts of all our public officials and especially our President, to fulfill their responsibilities worthily and well to all those entrusted to their care. Help them in their special leadership roles, to extend the mantle of protection to the most vulnerable, especially the defenseless unborn, whose lives are threatened with extermination by an indifferent society. Guide all public officials by your wisdom and grace to cease supporting any law that fails to protect the fundamental good that is human life itself, which is a gift from God and parents. You are the Protector and Defender of the lives of the innocent unborn. Change the hearts of those who compromise the call to protect and defend life. Bring our nation to the values that have made us a great nation, a society that upholds the values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all. Mary, the Mother of the living, help us to bear witness to the Gospel of Life with our lives and our laws, through Christ, Our Lord. Amen."

Imprimatur: January 22, 2009 + Most Reverend Robert J. Baker Bishop of Birmingham in Alabama
