Luke, Cancer Survivor, Dade City, FL

Tampa, FL - Let us lift up so many of our family and friends, who are cancer survivors. Remember Luke, especially in your prayers and so many others, who have been battling cancer for a long time. Heal Luke's recent lung cancer as your Divine Mercy wills. Give him and his loved ones your peace and consolation. Reveal your glory by your constant outpouring of love and healing on all those who have asked our prayers.

Lord of Mercy and Love, come to our assistance when we most need it; remember all those fighting cancer for a second time. Reveal your glory by all that you do on their behalf, especially the healing of their body, mind and spirit. May your perfect will be done in their lives and may all that they experience be used for the good of souls. We ask this through the intercession of Jesus, our Lord and Ascended Redeemer and our Blessed Mother Mary, Virgin and Spouse of souls on the occasion of her Feast Day of the Visitation.

In all that we do, say and experience, may God be praised. Amen - ipraytoday.com

Pope Francis in the Holy Land

Vatican News - "So, a rabbi, a sheikh and a pope travel to the Holy Land."

It might sound like the start of a trite joke, but its actually the entourage for one of the most highly anticipated papal trips in recent history.

As Pope Francis heads to Jordan, Bethlehem and Jerusalem this weekend, he is bringing along two old friends from Argentina: Rabbi Abraham Skorka, who co-wrote a book with the Pope, and Sheikh Omar Abboud, who leads Argentina's Muslim community.

The Vatican says it's the first time that a pope's official entourage has included interfaith leaders.

In a region roiled by competing religious and political visions, Francis' chosen companions communicate an unmistakable message, church officials said.

"It's highly symbolic, of course," said the Rev. Thomas Rosica, a consultant to the Vatican press office.

"But it also sends a pragmatic message to Muslims, Christians and Jews that it's possible to work together - not as a system of checks and balances but as friends."

Pope Francis continues to teach us on so many levels. First he is saying that we must work on our relationships as friends and in a spirit of open dialogue. Often it is the way we approach problems and communicate that sets the stage for peace and reconciliation.

Lord, protect Pope Francis as he travels to the Holy Land. Give him the strength and health he needs to continue to be your ambassador of peace and love. Help him to open hearts and bring about peaceful dialogue in the Middle East.

Lord, in your Mercy heal broken relationships, lessen differences and soften difficulties so that true dialogue can happen in the Middle East, in our Nation, in our homes and in our hearts. May there be a Pentecost of peace and unity, which surpasses all boundaries and barriers. May your Holy Spirit rest upon us and remain with us as we strive to bridge differences and seek reconciliation. Amen

Blessings on our Natural Resources

Feast of Saint Isidore - There has been much concern over climate change and its effect on our natural resources. Each year we find ourselves recovering from many unexpected changes in the weather. Let us thank our Lord for our many blessings and environmental wonders. For our land, sea and sky we are truly grateful for they are great wonders and sources of countless blessings.

We celebrated Saint Isidore's feast day this week. He is the Patron Saint of Farmers and those who make a living working and developing our natural resources.

Lord, God we thank you for all farmers and workers who develop our resources and ask for continued blessings on them and our many natural resources.

Lord God, all creation is yours and you call us to serve you by caring for the gifts that surround us. May the example of Saint Isidore urge us to share our food with the hungry and to work for the salvation of humankind.

Lord, helps us remember the homeless, the hungry, the forgotten and marginalized in our society. Through the intercession of Saint Isidore bless our crops, our land and all our resources; protect them for exploitation and devastation. Help us to be wise stewards of all the gifts you have given us, especially our environment. Give us the wisdom and grace to manage and develop all creation according to your Divine Plan and Providential will.

Saint Isidore pray for us and protect us. Amen

Missing Children in Nigeria

Nigeria - One of the greatest heart breaks a family can face is a missing child. Some children runaway, some children lose their way and some are kidnapped. Recently, over 300 school children have been kidnapped in Nigeria.

There has been a worldwide outcry against this terrorist act, which has prompted support and prayers for this outrage against human rights. The United States has promised resources and humanitarian aid to assist in the recovery of the children.

Lord, please bless all recovery efforts to find our missing children wherever they are. Increase the awareness of all nations that our children are a sacred gift from God and should be cherished and nurtured where ever they are. May they be safe at school, in their homes, in their countries and in the womb. Lord, helps us defend the rights of the most vulnerable in our society for they are all our children.

Lord, comfort all families with missing children and give them the resources and the voice they need to assist in their efforts to reconnect with their loved ones.

Lord, we remember the anguish Mary and Joseph felt when you were lost for three days in the temple. Please assist all parents in their hour of need. Please assist in the return of their loved ones. Protect the rights and needs of all children to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment from the womb to adulthood. Protect them from all abuse and harm wherever they may be. Holy Family of Nazareth pray for our children. We entrust them to your perpetual care. Amen

Chicago Shock Victim Age 63

Chicago, Illinois - A man was critically hurt after he suffered an electric shock near a downed power line Monday afternoon in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

The incident happened about 4:35 p.m. at the intersection of 79th Street and South Martin Luther King Drive, police said. "The electrical pole came crashing down after a dump truck raised its rear load and snagged a power line," said Con-Ed spokeswoman Kim Johnson.

The wires and pole then landed on top of an unoccupied SUV parked in an alley, police said. The man, 63, accidentally touched the vehicle and suffered an electric shock, police added.

Lord, we know not the day nor the hour when we might need urgent prayers, like this 63 old man from the Chicago area, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time. We pray for him and all those in need of your merciful healing this day. Help us to be attentive and vigilant in our spiritual life so that we might be more prepared for the unexpected challenges in our lives.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for all those seeking your intercession for healing this day. Pray for all your sons and daughters and anticipate their unexpected needs, as we place our past, present and future into your tender loving care. We ask this in the name of our Risen Lord. Amen
