Total Abandonment to God's Will

Holy Week 2015 - Lord help us prepare for your Easter Blessings by being more generous and abandoned to your Holy Will. Help us to be more thoughtful of others, especially the poor, the sick, the persecuted and the dying. Help us to be more loving, kind and good to all those we meet so that you may be glorified by all that we do in Jesus' name.

"Father, I abandon myself into your hands;
do with me what you will.
Whatever you may do, I thank you:
I am ready for all, I accept all.

Let only your will be done in me,
and in all your creatures -
I wish no more than this, O Lord.

Into your hands I commend my soul:
I offer it to you with all the love of my heart, for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into your hands without reserve, and with boundless confidence, for you are my Father." - Charles de Foucauld

All Heroes in Our Lives Past, Present and Future

Feast of the Annunciation - Today we honor all those individuals who have said "yes" so others might live. Please keep in your prayers all those we owe unending gratitude for their love and sacrifice for the good of others.

As a community leader in emergency preparedness and response, the American Red Cross annually presents the Acts of Courage Awards to local individuals who have acted courageously in a time of emergency. Often at great risk to their own personal safety and well-being, these ordinary individuals have acted in a heroic manner by reaching out to help others in times of greatest need. Due to their courage, tragedies were averted and lives were saved.

The concept for the Red Cross Heroes Award grew out of a desire to develop a special event that is closely related to the humanitarian mission of the American Red Cross. What better way to celebrate this spirit of humanitarianism than by honoring those individuals who have shown courage, coolness and kindness during a time of emergency.

Do You Know a Hero?

Do you know a firefighter who entered a burning building to rescue a trapped family? A passerby who jumped into a frozen lake to pull a drowning child to safety? A neighbor who administered CPR to a total stranger? A dog that alerted its family to a fire? A spiritual hero who has changed the course of history? Do you have someone in your life who has shown heroic love and service? Please remember all heroic souls and thank God for them in your prayers.

Lord, we lift up Mary our Mother and all those who have shared their heroic virtue with us by their life and witness. Continue to grace them with your choicest blessings and increase our faith, hope and love that we may follow in their footsteps as your Sons and Daughters. Amen

Mary, Mother of God and Queen of Heaven and Day Star of the Annunciation, pray for us and all those in need of your prayers. Amen

Baby Lily's Miracle Rescue

Spanish Fork, Utah - "We thank God for answered prayers for Baby Lily". Last week we were praying for Baby Lily and her mother Lynn Groesbeck, age 25. Although her mother died, Lily has made a miraculous recovery. Her father Deven Trafay says that Lily is doing great and that he feels blessed.

Rescuers found the toddler Saturday hanging upside down in the car, which had crashed into a frigid Utah river a day before.

Trafny said that Lily is awake and has been singing nursery rhymes. "She knows everything she knew before anything happened. It's amazing. Doctors say it's amazing," he said.

Lord, we thank you for this miracle and those who were instrumental in Lily's rescue. Continue to bless all involved, especially Lily's family. Grant eternal rest to her mother Lynn and consolation to her family.

Good Saint Joseph, Patron of a Happy Life and a Happy Death, may your continued prayers express our gratitude to God for Lily's survival and full recovery. Amen

A Utah Women in her 20s Hit by Train

American Fork, Utah - A woman is in critical condition after being hit by a Frontrunner train in American Fork.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was thrown about 25 feet and hit a light pole adjacent to the tracks, according to officials. They said she appeared to be crossing from one side of the track to another, but did not see the approaching train.

Witnesses said the woman appeared to be distracted, possibly by her phone. Greg Howell, who witnessed the accident, said he saw the woman crossing too late to do anything.

"By the time I got to the platform the train was blaring its horn and I turned around right when she got hit on the front left side of the train," he said. "She flew about 30 feet and hit a light pole."

Her injuries were reported to be very serious when she was transported to the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. The train was slowing down at the time of the collision, according to officials. They said it was traveling between 20 and 30 mph.

Trains were delayed as a result of the accident, but have since returned to their normal schedules.

Lord, please bless all those persons in critical condition due to accidents. Effect their healing and full recovery according to your most holy will. Bless all care givers and hospital workers who attend them, as well as their families.

Lord, into your hands we commend them to your care. Amen

Springville Mother, Age 25 and Child

Springville, Utah - An 18 month old baby is in critical condition at a Utah hospital after surviving a car wreck Friday night and weathering frigid conditions for as many as 14 hours in Utah's Spanish Fork River. The wreck was discovered after a fisherman waded into the river around noon on Saturday, spotting the vehicle overturned in the water. According to police, the car was not visible from the road.

The driver, a 25-year-old from Springville, Utah, and mother of the child, was killed after the car veered off the road, striking the cement barrier on the south end of the bridge and plummeting into the river, according to Spanish Fork Public Safety.

The child, strapped into a car seat in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle, was found unconscious and unresponsive but alive, despite being trapped upside down for as many as 14 hours.

"The vehicle was on its top, so the car seat could have been out of the water," according to Lt. Cory Slaymaker of the Spanish Forks Police Department. "The car was on the embankment, so I don't know how much water was getting into the car."

Overnight Friday, temperatures fell close to freezing and lasted there between four to six hours, reported Meteorologist Tom Kines said.

The river level was very low, at only 3.5 feet, around the time of the accident. Flood stage for the Spanish Fork River is closer to 9 feet.

Lord, please grant eternal rest to all those who died recently, especially this Mother. Grant healing and complete recovery to her baby and all her family.

We ask this through the intercession of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, the Holy Family at Nazareth. Amen
