Glenn's Prayer Intentions Dallas, Texas

Dallas, Texas - Glenn Beck has asked our prayers like so many others. He asked us to pray for him and for discernment of all the Lord has in store for him. Glenn believes we all play a role in healing the world.

Lord, bless Glenn and all world leaders that they may be true to what God is calling them to do and strengthen them in body, mind and spirit that they may persevere in their call to serve you and the good of others. Provide the resources and divine encounters needed to reveal your holy will in all areas of our world. Provide the fire of your love to change hearts, increase compassion and direct our resources for the good of others, especially the less fortunate, the persecuted, the sick, the poor, the dying, the homeless or abused because of war, terrorism or violence in our world.

Lord, encourage your Mercy in us so that your perfect will is done. Provide the energy and direction needed so that life is respected and peace and unity are restored according to your natural and supernatural order. Protect us from all discouragement and increase in us abandonment to your Divine Providence, which is love and mercy itself. Amen

4000 Nepal Victims

Kathmandu, Nepal - Nepal is in mourning as recovery begins after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Kathmandu Valley on Friday killing 4,000 and injuring thousands. The quake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest killing even more people in that area.

The mountains that define Nepal make it difficult to deliver relief, though international efforts are in full swing. Aftershocks are also complicating operations.

A team of 260 emergency responders was about an hour away from departure at Israel's Ben Gurion Airport when an aftershock in Kathmandu delayed its departure.

The U.S. Agency for International Development's Disaster Response Team, made up of 54 urban search and rescue specialists from Fairfax County, Virginia, and six K-9s, headed to Nepal on Sunday on a C-17 military transport plane. The dogs are trained to find signs of life in rubble after a disaster.

But the trip was expected to take about 24 hours, reducing the precious hours left in which survivors are likely to be found.

Please assist the people of Nepal and all rescue efforts with your prayers.

Lord, into your hands we commend all those lost in recent natural disasters throughout the world. Grant them eternal rest and bless their loved ones with your healing presence. Bless rescue efforts and humanitarian relief during this difficult time of recovery.

"For the sake of your sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world." ...

Cardinal Frances E. George, 78, Chicago

Chicago, Illinois - "Cardinal Francis E. George, who was the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Chicago for 17 years and helped shape the American Catholic bishops response to the child sexual abuse scandal and their resistance to the Obama health plans contraception coverage, died on Friday at his residence in Chicago. He was 78.

The cause was cancer, the archdiocese said. Discovered in 2006, the cancer originated in his bladder and spread. But Cardinal George continued to work until November, when he stepped down. In December he announced that experimental treatments he had received had failed.

A quiet, cerebral man, Cardinal George was appointed to lead the Chicago archdiocese by Pope John Paul II. He was the first Chicago native to hold the seat.

It was his prominent role in responding to the sexual abuse scandal in 2002 that first made Cardinal George a national figure. Although it would be five years before he was named president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, he helped persuade his brother Bishops to adopt a zero tolerance policy, barring priests who had been credibly accused of abuse from serving in ministry.

He was credited with then shepherding the policy change through an initially resistant Vatican.

Cardinal George became a hero to many Catholic traditionalists in the United States and in Rome, where he had worked for a dozen years as Vicar General of his religious order, the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. ..."
- from Laurie Goodstein's article in The New York Times, April 17, 2015

Lord, bless your good and faithful servant Cardinal Frances George, as he is laid to rest. May your perpetual light continue to shine upon him and may he rest in peace. With gratitude for Cardinal Frances George we pray:

"Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God pray for all our faithfully departed now and always. Amen"

21 Million Children in Crisis

New York, New york - Worsening conflicts, poverty and gender discrimination in the Middle East and North Africa are driving 21 million children and young adolescents out of school, two United Nations agencies said on Wednesday.

One in four children are either not in school or are at risk of dropping out in a region that has otherwise made significant progress in attendance rates, according to a joint report by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Institute of Statistics.

"At a time of such change and turmoil, this region simply cannot afford to let 21 million children fall by the wayside," said Maria Calivis, UNICEF's regional director in the Middle East and North Africa.

The region has recorded a 40 percent drop over the past decade in the number of out-of-school children.

But more than 12 million children and adolescents are not attending school, with an additional 6 million at risk of dropping out, said the report.

A further 3 million children are out of school in Syria and Iraq, where conflict has destroyed large parts of the education system, data from the report showed.

WAR AND DISCRIMINATION

"Save the Children" said last month that a quarter of school buildings in Syria have been destroyed by the war, and many parents are too frightened to send their children to school.

The U.N. report said worsening violence in Syria and Iraq now threatens millions more of becoming a "lost generation" without education.

Across the region, child marriage, as well as a lack of female teachers and deep-rooted social attitudes are drastically reducing girls' chances of getting an education.

The report, which is part of the two agencies' Middle East and North Africa Out-of-School Children Initiative, urged governments to ramp up efforts and devise new policies to tackle school drop-outs and gender discrimination in education, among other things.

"We need targeted interventions to reach the families displaced by conflict, the girls forced to stay home and the children obliged to work," said Silvia Montoya, director of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics.

Lord, in your mercy save your children from conception until natural death. May they have the nurturing and education they need to live out their God given plan as children of God and may your divine destiny be accomplished in them according to your perfect will. Amen

Mary, Mother of Mercy, pray for your children world-wide in need of homes, education and nurturing environments. May they develop their God given talents and potential for the honor and glory of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Pope Francis Encourages Mercy

The Vatican - Let us recall Pope Francis' Message on Mercy on Divine Mercy Sunday in 2014. Pope Francis gave a powerful teaching on God's mercy based on the Gospel of the day. He spoke of how "true peace ... comes from the experience of God's mercy," of Jesus Christ revealing Himself to us as "Mercy Incarnate," and of our call to "proclaim Christ the Risen Lord" by "trusting in the mercy of the Lord forever."

Pope Francis spoke of the Risen Lord's Easter gift of peace to His disciples and its connection with Divine Mercy:

"I renew to everyone the Easter greetings with the words of the Risen Jesus: "Peace be with you!" It is not a greeting, or even a simple wish: it is a gift, indeed, the precious gift that Christ gives to his disciples after passing through death and the underworld. He gives peace, as he had promised, 'Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you.' This peace is the fruit of the victory of God over evil, it is the fruit of forgiveness. And so it is: true peace, profound peace, comes from the experience of God's Mercy."

Lord, help us realize your gifts of mercy and peace in a more profound way in 2015. Grant us your mercy and peace in our homes, in our hearts, in our nation and throughout the world. Raise up new saints among us through the sanctity you offer to all. We thank you for these profound gifts which lead to eternal life. Amen

"For the sake of your sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world." Amen

Steve Esmond and Family

Delaware - Two Delaware boys are in a coma and their father still is unable to talk or move two weeks after they became sick, perhaps from pesticide exposure, federal officials say during a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands, their lawyer said Saturday.

Steve Esmond, his teenage sons and the teens' mother fell ill more than two weeks ago in St. John, where they were renting a villa at the Sirenusa resort.

The family was airlifted to hospitals in the United States. The boys, 16 and 14, were in critical condition at a Philadelphia hospital on Saturday, the family's lawyer, James Maron of Delaware, said.

"The boys are in rough shape," Maron said.

"The family are all fighters," he added. "They're fighting for everything right now. I understand it's a long recovery."

Esmond, also being treated at a hospital, is conscious but cannot move, Maron said. The teens' mother, Theresa Devine, was treated at a hospital but released, and is now in occupational therapy, Maron said.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Friday that the presence of a pesticide at the rented villa in St.John may have caused the illnesses, which were reported to the EPA on March 20.

Lord, in your Divine Mercy hear our prayers for the Esmond family and all those suffering from environmental illnesses. Heal them with your infinite mercy and inspire the doctors and nurses that attend them with your unfathomable healing and wisdom.

We also pray for all your sweet children in need of your Mercy. Remember your little ones close to your heart and grant them the grace of your merciful love unending and forever full of your grace abiding in your divine intimacy.

Holy God, mighty God, Holy immortal God, have mercy on us and on the whole world. - from the Divine Mercy Chaplet

Elias Rodriguez, an EPA spokesman, said the agency's preliminary test results "do show that there was a presence of methyl bromide in the unit where the family was staying."

Exposure to methyl bromide can result in serious health effects, including central nervous system and respiratory system damage, according to the EPA.

The use of the pesticide is restricted in the United States because of its acute toxicity. It's not allowed to be used indoors. Only certified professionals are permitted to use it in certain agricultural settings.

"It's an ongoing investigation; we're still on the island doing our assessment," Rodriguez said. "We have been doing different types of air sampling and wipe sampling." Final test results were expected next week.

Pope Francis' Easter Call to Pray 2015

Vatican City Rome - Pope Francis appealed on Easter Sunday for an end to the "absurd violence" in hotspots around the world and said the international community must not stand by in the face of the "immense humanitarian tragedy" in Syria and Iraq.

The Pope asks us to pray for an end to the 'humanitarian tragedy' in Syria and Iraq. He also asks we pray for the killed Christian Kenyan students. He went on to say in his traditional Easter message that he was praying for all those killed in armed conflict, including the students massacred by Somali gunmen at a university in Kenya.

In his third Easter message Pope Francis prayed "for peace, above all, for Syria and Iraq, that the roar of arms may cease".

He called on the international community to "not stand by before the immense humanitarian tragedy unfolding in these countries and the drama of the numerous refugees" created by the two conflicts.

Lord, we thank you for your many Easter gifts and the lasting grace of your risen presence among us to guide and strengthen us as we pray. Continue to inspire heroic virtue in the world that all peoples and nations would rise up in compassion and love to defend all those suffering from war, persecution, malnutrition and disease. Continue to bless all souls with your anointed Spirit that your divine destiny may be fulfilled and you holy will accomplished in all that we do. We ask this on behalf of our families, nations, and in light of world-wide need. Amen

Lord, through your risen presence guide and nurture us to follow you more deeply and be united with you in your divine intimacy. Amen

Dr. Robert H. Schuller's Intentions

Orange County - CA Dr. Robert H. Schuller, famed televangelist and founder of the Crystal Cathedral Ministries, is in critical condition in a Los Angeles-area nursing home and is not expected to make it through the week, family members said Tuesday. This was revealed in a story by Deepa Bharath, staff writer for the Orange County Register.

Bharath said that according to his daughter-in-law, Donna Schuller, Reverend's condition has been deteriorating since he had an exploratory procedure in January.

Donna Schuller said her father-in-law is not on life support and is breathing on his own, but is extremely weak because he has not "eaten for several days."

"He doesn't seem to be in pain," she said, choking up. "He's had a wonderful life and we believe he'll pass gracefully."

As we observe Good Friday let us remember to pray for a happy death for all those dealing with terminal illnesses as well as all the faithfully departed. Through Jesus' Passion, Death and Resurrection we have received the promise of eternal life if we remain faithful and close to God to the end. By His Mercy we are saved!

"For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world." - from the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
