An Elderly Couple and All Drivers, Hermosa Beach CA

Hermosa Beach, California - A man was killed Tuesday when the vehicle he was riding in crashed at the intersection of Armour Lane and Reynolds Lane, critically injuring the female driver.

At about 9:30 p.m., police and fire personnel responded to a single vehicle traffic collision at the border of Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach. The 2002 Toyota Prius, was occupied by two Torrance residents the 83-year-old male, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the 79-year-old female, who is in critical, but stable condition, according to Hermosa Beach Police Sgt. Robert Higgins.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the Prius was traveling westbound on Armour Lane and struck the retaining wall on Reynolds Lane, which borders Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Higgins said. Witnesses reported the Prius was traveling in excess of 60 mph and did not appear to brake before it struck the retaining wall. At this time, alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor. No other damage or injuries were reported."

Higgins said the names of the driver and passenger are being withheld until a later date.

Lord, in your mercy protect all drivers and their passengers as they travel, especially those who are elderly. Keep them safe and close to you and grant them the wisdom to understand when they need to assess their driving skills. Giving up or getting ones drivers license is a grave responsibility. Every time you drive you take others' lives in your hands.

Saint Christopher pray for us as we travel and bless us with your prayers. Protect us from all evil and dangers unaware. Be our guide and bless us on our way, until at last we arrive safely to travel another day. Amen

Tibetan Recovery

Washington, DC - The International Campaign for Tibet is asking your help through your most valued prayers and generous support. Since the devastating earthquake Tibet has been struggling with rebuilding their homes, cities and infrastructure, while thousands remain homeless and in need of food and clean water.

The Tibetan people have also been suffering from religious persecution, repressive Chinese policies with thousands imprisoned and countless regular dispearances of its citizens. Detention or torture has become a matter of course if anyone dares to display the Tibetian flag or an image of the Dalai Lama. Gandhi reminds us: "A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history." Please lend your prayers and assistance. With God's help our small efforts can have great effects. Great love transforms the world.

Lord, please hear the cry of your people in Tibet, in the Middle East, in the Sudan and elsewhere. We beg your Divine protection, intervention and deliverance from all religious persecution and human rights repression. Remember the poor, the homeless, the refugees, the sick and the suffering during this critical time.

Lord, set your people free. Overcome evil with good and raise up saints to deliver your children from bondage.

"For the sake of your sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world." Amen

The Conversion of All Terrorists

Washington,DC - Our past and present history has been marked by violence, war and terrorism. The conflict between good and evil has plagued humankind for centuries. What can we do about it? How can we turn evil into God? The answer is within each of us. We must pray. Prayer is a mighty force because it calls upon God for his intervention, protection, and deliverance. He is the author of all life, goodness and grace. God is love and wants each of us to have an abundant life. By praying for peace and unity we become more kind, loving and good. We become a blessing for others. By witnessing the behaviors we wish to encourage in others, we become a spiritual force that encourages love and goodness in our environment. We become sons and daughters of God; we become a blessing. With spiritual generosity and magnanimous hearts we can make the world a more peaceful and loving place. Know that your spirit and prayers have infinite value. Your soul's legacy of prayer and goodness helps write history and creates balance, goodness and unity as an eternal reality. Love is an eternal gift that never dies and has eternal consequences.

Let's us put an end to violence, war and terrorism. Let us pray for the conversion of all those who would seek to impose their will on others and take their right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Saint Paul reminds us that "Our struggle is not against human enemies but against the principalities and powers, against the evils spirits. " Eph 6:12 Return good for evil; pray for those who persecute you. Be a life giving force and create positive blessings wherever you go. Create a force field of love which never ends. Love and goodness, once sent have an infinite rippling affect and lasting value.

Pray, pray, pray. Become a prayer. Ask God to triumph over all those who are enemies of peace. Ask God to convert their minds and hearts with his Divine Wisdom and grace. With God all things are possible.

"Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and leads us not into temptation, but deliver us from all evil for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen."

Teenage Driver and Passengers in Amarillo, TX

Pampa, Texas - Three young Borger residents are left hospitalized because of severe injuries sustained during a wreck Wednesday afternoon, according to the Pampa Police Department.

Officials say a 15-year-old driver and her two passengers, ages 9 and 7, were struck by a semi-truck on County Road Gray D. Police say the driver, whose identification is withdrawn, failed to stop at an intersection moments before the semi hit the side of the car.

Police say the passengers were the driver's niece and nephew, the latter of which was ejected from the vehicle. Investigators believe he was not wearing a seat belt.

All three were transported to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. Police list the driver and the 7-year-old passenger as in 'critical condition', and say the 9-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries. Officials say next of kin have been notified.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

The Pampa Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the accident.

Let us pray for all travelers, especially those on summer vacation:

"O Almighty and merciful God, who hast commissioned Thy angels to guide and protect us, command them to be our assiduous companions from our setting out until our return; to clothe us with their invisible protection; to keep from us all danger of collision, of fire, of explosion, of fall and bruises, and finally, having preserved us from all evil, and especially from sin, to guide us to our heavenly home. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen."

The Most Vulnerable

Ecuador - Pope Francis launched the first of two summertime trips to the Americas on Sunday, arriving in Ecuador on a mission to reach and energize some of the hemispheres poorest, most marginalized and most Catholic populations.

Francis, the first pope born in the Americas, continues his familiar theme of expanding the theme the "church for the poor" to be made real on his native continent.

I thank God for having allowed me to return to Latin America to be here with you today, Francis said after stepping off the Alitalia jet that brought him from Rome, becoming the first Pope in 30 years to set foot in the dramatically beautiful but politically troubled Andean country of Ecuador.

He said he hoped the gospel would lead the way to "meeting contemporary challenges," while respecting differences, dialogue and broad participation, so that growth and progress can benefit "everyone, with particular concern for the most vulnerable of our brothers and sisters."

Departing from his prepared remarks, he said that concern for the most vulnerable "is a debt that all of Latin America has."

Pope Francis was greeted with a hug on the heavily guarded tarmac by Ecuadors leftist President Rafael Correa. A gust of wind knocked the white cap from his head as he walked off the plane.

The Pope noted that Ecuador was home to the place on Earth "closest to the sun," the peak of the Chimborazo volcano.

The Pope sounded tired as he spoke, his voice somewhat strained.

Lord, bless Pope Francis as he travels and reminds us all to remember the most vulnerable. Lord, please remember the little ones of Christ, especially the poor, the sick and the dying and those in most need of your mercy. Remember lost souls, all those who have no one to pray for them and all those in most need of our prayers. Amen

Jesus we trust in you!
