198 Indonesian Boat People Rescued

The Indonesian Navy rescued 198 boat people off the coast of Myanmar who had been adrift for 21 days. The people belong to Myanmars Rohingya ethnic minority and were part of 585 asylum seekers who set out on five boats from Myanmar in early December. They said they were detained and beaten by Thai army officers before being towed out to sea and set adrift with no food and fuel. The refugees are pleading with the Indonesian government not to send them back to Myanmar for fear of persecution or death. Hundreds of others were missing and feared drowned. Considered to be stateless and lacking citizenship, these Muslim Rohingyas need your prayers. May the Lord bless them with hope, peace and safe passage to a better future.
