Christmas Anticipation Prayer

Advent Week 4 - As we anticipate Christ coming soon, let us thank God for our many blessings and pray some extra prayers for all our needs and for all humankind. Following is the Christmas Anticipation Prayer.

Beginning on St. Andrew the Apostle's feast day, November 30, the following beautiful prayer is traditionally recited fifteen times a day until Christmas. This is a very meditative prayer that helps us increase our awareness of the real focus of Christmas and helps us prepare ourselves spiritually for His coming.

"Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, we beseech Thee, O God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires, (here mention your request)
through the merits of our Saviour Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother. Amen"

Saint John of the Cross Pray for us!

Feast of Saint John of the Cross 2016 - In celebrating the Feast of Saint John of the Cross, let us recall the deep call every soul has for prayer and communion with God. Following are three quotes by Saint John of the Cross to bless your prayer and your day:

"Whoever flees prayer flees all that is good."

"Souls will be unable to reach perfection who do not strive to be content with having nothing, in such fashion that their natural and spiritual desire is satisfied with emptiness; for this is necessary in order to reach the highest tranquility and peace of spirit. Hence the love of God in the pure and simple soul is almost continually in act."

"The very pure spirit does not bother about the regard of others or human respect, but communes inwardly with God, alone and in solitude as to all forms, and with delightful tranquility, for the knowledge of God is received in divine silence."

Saint John of the Cross pray for us and for all those in most need this day. Amen

Feast of Juan Deigo 2016

Our Lady of Guadalupe's Feast Day 2016 - Our Blessed Virgin Mary continues to be very loving, kind and nurturing to all her spiritual children throughout the world. Her maternal care for all souls is reflected in the message she shared with Juan Diego in the 1500s in Mexico. Let us continue to ask Our Lady of Guadalupe to intercede for us during this Advent Season.

"Listen and let it penetrate your heart ... do not be troubled or weighed down with grief. Do not fear any illness or vexation, anxiety or pain. Am I not here who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not your fountain of life? Are you not in the folds of my mantle? In the crossing of my arms? Is there anything else you need?" (Our Lady's words to her servant Juan Diego.)

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us. Amen

Second Week of Advent 2016 - May these antiphons and reading from the Divine Office bless your second week of Advent. Psalter Week II Evening Prayer Antiphons and Reading from the Liturgy of the Hours p.197 Vol.I:

Antiphon 1: "New city of Zion, let your heart sing for joy; see how humbly your King comes to save you."

Antiphon 2: "Have courage, all of you, lost and fearful; take heart and say: 'Our God will come to save us, alleluia.'"

Antiphon 3: "The law was given to Moses, but grace and truth come through Jesus Christ."

Reading: "May the God of peace make you perfect in holiness. May he preserve you whole and entire, spirit, soul, and body, irreproachable at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls us is trustworthy, therefore he will do it." - 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

Lord, bless those less fortunate, especially the 21 million people who are endanger of starvation due to war, natural disasters and political abuse. Send them who and what they need so that they may live out their right to life and mercy according to your sacred Word and pervading Truth. We ask this through the intercession of Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the poor and abandoned. Amen

Blessed Charles De Foucauld 100th Anniversary

100th Anniversary of Charles de Foucauld's death - As we honor the 100th anniversary of Charles De Foucauld's entry into heaven, let us ask his intercession for a greater abandonment to God's will in our lives and an increase of wisdom and grace in serving God and our neighbors. Following is Charles De Foucauld's prayer of abandonment:

"Father, I abandon myself into your hands; do with me what you will. Whatever you may do, I thank you: I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures.

I wish no more than this, O Lord.

Into your hands I commend my soul;
I offer it to you with all the love of my heart, for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into your hands, without reserve, and with boundless confidence, for you are my Father." Amen
