Pray for World Peace Especially in Egypt

The Vatican - Pope Francis has asked our prayers for a safe and successful trip as he travels to Egypt. Please pray intently for his intentions and peace in Egypt, which is still mourning the loss of Coptic Christians killed in a bombing recently.

Saint Michael, the Archangel defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray and do thou oh Prince of the heavenly host by the power of God, cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits who roam the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Prayers Requested for the Coptic Church

Vatican City - Pope Francis on Sunday decried a deadly attack on a Coptic church in Egypt during Palm Sunday celebrations, just weeks before his planned visit to Cairo.

The pontiff expressed his "deep condolences" to the Coptic patriarch, Tawadros II, calling him "my brother," to the Coptic church and "all of the dear Egyptian nation," and said he was praying for the dead and injured in the attack that occurred just hours earlier as Francis himself was marking Palm Sunday in St. Peter's Square.

Lord, by your Passion and Resurrection you came to set us free from all violence, hatred, war and terrorism. Change all hearts to be more like yours and provide healing and consolation for all victims of terrorism and war. Increase our faith, hope and charity until there is a lasting peace for all mankind.

We adore you, oh Christ, and we praise you for by your cross you have redeemed the world.

Oh blood and water, which gush forth from the heart of Jesus, we trust in you. Amen

UN Alert: One Million Children at Risk

New York, New York - The United Nations has issued a famine alert. Over a million children's lives are hanging in the balance in South Sudan, Yemen, Nigeria and Somalia. Without help, they are at imminent risk of dying from life-threatening malnutrition.

Famine was officially declared in parts of South Sudan last week - the first time anywhere in the world since 2011. But South Sudan is not the only country facing a catastrophe. The children of Somalia, Yemen and Nigeria are at risk of famine too.
Somalia is facing a severe drought and persistent armed conflict makes access to basic services difficult, causing an alarming deterioration in the food and nutrition situation of Somali families. Currently, there are already 363,000 children suffering from malnutrition, and nearly 6.2 million people - or 50% of the population - in need of humanitarian assistance.

These elements are reminiscent of the beginnings of the 2011 famine that killed nearly 250,000 people.

"All indicators are alerting us in recent months about an imminent disaster. We can still avoid the worst for these families by deploying large-scale programs now," says Hajir Maalim, Regional Director of Operations for Action Against Hunger.

Children are extremely vulnerable right now. Many of them will not reach their fifth birthday. They are in urgent need of treatment.
Our immediate priority today is to save lives. But needs are immense and in many of the affected areas we have reached a deadly tipping point. Now these crises are projected to worsen over the next six months unless a major response is mobilized.
Together, we must do everything in our power to save lives. Please pray for these starving children. Seek out ways to encourage a generous response to this urgent life-threatening problem. Raise awareness and contact agencies and government leaders and encourage everyone to take action.

Pray each day, each hour and every minute until relief is found. Pray always for God's children in need. Give the gift of prayer this Lenten and Easter Season. Your love and care can save lives.

Thank you in advance for your prayerful concern for God's children.
